As a Special Class Teacher, working with students who have varying needs and abilities, it is my responsibility to allow students to engage in learning and show what they know in ways that may be unconventional, but more conducive to their circumstances. To ignite curiosity, and encourage learning, my students have used various technology platforms to display their learning and share their knowledge throughout the school year. In this session, I will share some of the projects I’ve developed and used with students in this class. Special Class in Irvington is a program for students with unique learning needs that require a smaller, more individualized experience.

This presentation is designed to help any secondary teacher utilize Universal Design for Learning principles to quickly make their classroom and curriculum more inclusive and accessible for all learners.

Drawing on the presenter's past experiences as an AT service provider and special education teacher, this workshop will show how AI can be used as a powerful tool to provide accessibility for students and help educators make choices that will best meet their student's needs.

Discover how our third-grade classroom integrated coding into the curriculum, transforming a traditional playwriting unit into an interactive experience both on and off screen. We'll discuss supporting diverse learners, including English Language Learners, through Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and balancing coding with core subjects to create a common language for learning and expression.
